Wow. I had a surprising wake up call Sunday morning after only getting back from the casino a few hours earlier. It turns out my boss had a heart attack on Friday.
He’s 40 years old, healthy and in good physical shape. The cause was apparently due to having really low good cholesterol which helps keeps things flowing. He’s recovering from surgery now and will likely be off work for awhile – I think I heard 6 weeks is about the norm for a heart attack.
I guess he wasn’t kidding when he said he’ll be relying more on me soon. It’s hard to tell sometimes because he’s quite the joker. You should have seen the email he sent, despite the news, it was quite funny.
It’s quite an eye opener. I’ve got six years to go before I hit 40 and I’m no where close to the shape he was in. It’s downright terrifying really.
We had a co-worker (who sat in the cube across from me) die at age 40, a little more then a year ago now. It is quite the shock and was also unexpected. I never had the full story, but apparantly he had an unknown heart disease problem. He was fine on friday when we left work and they announced his death the next week.

I lost a good “online” friend this weekend, he was 44. Truth be told, I knew him better than I know most my “real” friends.

I’m sorry to hear that.
Thank you for feeding the terror. :$

That would be why Mort & I went to the gym this morning… I’m NOT in good shape, so this whole heart exploding thing isn’t just terror in the night.
Also, it sucks when you can’t keep up with younger sprats (kids, nephews/nieces, grandkids, whatever) without blowing like a dying horse inside of 10 minutes
